Summerfest was great...I would really like to make it back next year to spend some more time there. My coworker who I traveled with is from there, and knew just about every beer-pourer and cheesecurd-frier on the premises. I didn't spend a dime, yet left completely inebriated. Zooball was fun too...more free booze! I was a big fan of the Bombay Sapphire bar and the fun ice sculptures with gin flowing down them...and the zoological society was a big fan of me being a big fan. I did very well for them in the silent auction. I came home with a crate of Penzey's Spices and a Bliss Spa gift basket. I think I even bid against myself a couple times. Basically all the money I saved on free booze I spent on my two silent auction items (and then some). Thanks to my generosity, I think the wild jackass enclosure at the Milwaukee County Zoo may bear my name as the patron sponsor...

I saw him at Safeway once and he looks a lot older in person. He also has season tickets to the Capitals and he donated a ton of money to the Anne Arundel Medical Center and has a pavilion named after him. It's where I had my first scans after finding out I had cancer and then they fucked up the billing, so of course it has a positive association in my mind. I've learned some important things in my nutrition class. Never, never, never, never ever eat something that has "partially hydrogenated _________ oil" listed in its ingredients. Fill in the blank with canola, corn, soybean, olive, whatever - it doesn't matter. The hydrogenation process is bad, bad, bad. The manufacturers have added hydrogens to the fatty acid carbon chains of mono- and poly-unsaturated fats. It's trans fat and they list their product as having zero trans fat because less than .5 gram in a serving is legally rounded down to zero. I have emptied my cupboards of all packaging with this on it. And since I love all of you, I came here first to warn you all. The sky is falling! edited to change the saturated to unsaturated - how am I going to pass my nutrition midterm on Thursday if I can't even get this tidbit right?
