I blame She for the realization I had about myself last night. I realized that I never let myself do anything that has a possibility of failure. The only aspect of my life where I want to put myself out there is softball. I sit on the field and think, "hit the ball to me, hit the ball to me." I want to be the one up to bat with 2 down in the bottom of the 7th (it's softball, not baseball) when we're losing by one run.
But in normal life, I always think, "wow, I hope the (figurative) ball is hit to her. I don't want to be responsible for fielding it." The only time I let the (figurative life) ball be hit to me is when we're winning by 20 runs and it doesn't really matter if I field it correctly or not. I think I should work on this. |
